Oh, How the tables have turned!

Here is a classic non-nap day occurrence. Falling asleep around 5pm

Here he is at about 6pm. I tried standing him up to keep him awake. He fell over.

Here he is at 4pm on Saturday after refusing to sleep.

Here he is finally making it to an acceptable bed time (7:30) before passing out on the couch.

So, the sleep battle rages on at our house. Long story short, Eli is amazing at NOT sleeping. Our latest sleep strategy had been to read a couple of books with him, then leave him in his bed, telling him that we will return in one minute. When we come back we give him a little hug and kiss and tell him we will be back in two minutes. An so the patern goes, lengthening out each time we leave him. As with everything else we've tried it works like a charm for a week or two. We did have him sleeping beautifully for about a year. We would put him in his crib at about 7:30pm, he would flash us that sweet smile of his, roll over and go to sleep untill 6am. But since last June... it has been a nightmear!

With this new strategy, nights have been much better, but naps are hard, hard, hard! Anyway, on Saturday, I was trying to get this boy to sleep and he turns to me and says "Night-night mamma. Close your eyes. I'll be back to check on you in four minutes." He gave me a little pat on the back and tried to get up and leave! He told me it was okay, that I could just take a nap and he was going to "play toys."

I am at a loss! He sure is funny though! Currently he is in his room telling me that I am in trouble now for leaving him in there to nap. He's been in there 45 min and is still awake! I guess I'll have another picture of him zonked out around 5pm to add to the portfolio.

Behold: He eats!

I am brilliant!
For those of you who don,t know. Eli basically eats nothing. Not to worry he is healthy and robust, despite living off of milk and chips. Eli will not touch the classic kid foods. Mac and Cheese, forget it. Pizza, never in a million years! Chicken nuggets -no, PB&J - no. He has even been rejecting granola bars lately. He will randomly scarf down a plate of spaghetti or broccoli, and the other day, salmon. It truly is beyond me. What was so good one day is repulsive the next. Today however, I think I discovered something, something big! I gave him graham crackers with frosting the other day and he loved it, so today I put peanut butter in the frosting bag and decorated the crackers. The possibilities could be endless! Cream cheese, hummus, re-fried beans, if it will squish I will try it!
