Oakley Amaya

Here they are, my THREE kids and my love! I can not believe all the joy these guys bring to my life! We had such a great experience with Oakley's birth, it was very peaceful and sweet. The timing could not have been better. We had dinner, baths, and got the kids to sleep then decided it was time to get to the hospital. We were joking as were leaving that it was like we were going on a date, extra romantic because we got to stay overnight!

The labor went quickly, we arrived at the hospital around 9:30pm and Oakley was born at 11:50pm. I have never been able to hold my baby right after their birth for one reason or another, but Oakley was in my arms seconds after her birth. It was so incredible to hold her and feel her spirit. Everything was calm and I just held her while they took care of things. It was so sweet.

Things have been going well, Oakley likes to sleep, hopefully she'll do a little more of it at night rather than the day, but I know it will all work itself out. Jed has some time off and we are loving making the adjustment with daddy home 24/7. I think it has been really good for the kids and Jed is having a blast spending so much time with them.

So the name...for those of you who have been around Eli, you know this baby girl has been Oaksie Oaks for months. We asked him one day what we should name the baby and that is what he came up with. We (by we I mean ME!) were having such a hard time deciding what to name her and we used Eli's Oaksie Oaks name all the time. Finally it hit me! Oakley! I was so excited to have a name and I love that Eli named her. Amaya is a name that we thought was pretty. When we looked up the meaning we found it means night rain, perfect for Seattle! Also, as a random side note, June 2nd is the 11th anniversary of mine and Jed's first date!

The Avengers

Amber and I watched The Avengers today in IMAX 3D. This was my second time watching it, as I watched the 2D version with some friends from church on opening day. Watching it the second time was just as good, if not better, than the first. It was definitely worth paying a few extra bucks for the 3D version.

Amber and I both loved all the comedy in the film. Some of our favorite lines/scenes:

-Loki trying to take over Iron Man's soul by tapping his chest with his scepter. Loki: "This usually works."

-Captain America intervenes during the Iron Man/Thor fight and tells Thor to put down his hammer. Iron Man says, "Be careful. He likes his hammer."

-Iron Man calls Capt America a "Capsicle" in reference to the decades he spent buried in ice

-Black Widow, referring to Thor and Loki, "They're basically gods." Capt America's reply, "Ma'am, there's only one God, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that."

-Capt America referring to Thor (I think): "He really packs a whallop!"

-Nick Fury: "I'd like to know what Loki did to turn two of my best agents into his personal flying monkeys." Thor: "Monkeys? I don't understand." Capt America: "I do!.....I understood that reference."

-Tony Stark talking to Bruce Banner (the Hulk): "Dr. Banner, your work is unparalleled. And I'm a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster.

There are tons more funny lines. If you haven't seen it yet...what are you waiting for?

What Jane is up to

We celebrated Jane's 1st birthday a month late when Jed's siblings were here the beginning of January. I was hoping she would dig into the cake a little more than she did. She is usually such a mess running a fork covered with syrup through her hair or grabbing handfuls of food and shoving them in her mouth. Oh well, at least she dug in a little bit!
Janie was sick on her birthday which is why we celebrated later. She had Roseola, which is not fun. She had a rash and fever for about a week followed by another week of a cold and teething (which she does not do gracefully). She cut four teeth all at once and had hives all over. Needless to say it was rough going! It makes me appreciate good health.

While Jane does not enjoy the actual time in the bath, she LOVES to run around naked after. I guess it's the age for that though, and I just think it's so cute! She runs around laughing and like to throw things into the tub for Eli.

Jane also loves to climb into or onto things. I find her in the toy box a lot. She and Eli like to climb on top of the toy box and give "speeches". Jane's involves a lot of gibberish yelling. She loves to say "ut-oh!" for everything. She also says, "mamma", "dada" , "ba", for ball, "da", for doll. She plays with our old cell phones and says "he-yo".

Jane loves kisses, especially for dad. She gets him right on the lips! She is good at cuddling her dolls before she tries to poke their eyes out and chucks them. She loves falling down on the bed and wrestling, but very gently. She is also a very talented dancer, bouncing up and down and shaking her head. Lately it looks like she is trying to beat-box while dancing. She swings her arms crossing them in front of her and spitting. She makes us laugh all the time!

She knows how to keeps herself busy (unless I'm cooking or taking a shower) she takes things from one room to another, drops them off and picks up something else to move to another room. The other day I found the floss in a kitchen drawer, a remote in the cupboard and a little book in one of my pans.

Jane has already developed a love for shoes. She will bring me shoes and beg to have me put them on. Sometimes we have to change the ones I chose for her and put on the ones she likes better. Yesterday she was wearing one boot and one Sunday shoe for most of the afternoon. This morning she pulled out one of my high heels and was looking fondly at it. So funny!

Apparently we make pretty awesome kids.

Seriously, these two kiddos are so amazing! They make me laugh every day and bring so much joy into my life. Do we have rough days? YES! But, they are such fantastic little human beings that we decided to go for round three! We are going to have another little girl in June! June, you say? Yup, June. I am already 21 weeks but have been pretty bad at telling people. Sorry! part of it is that we waited until Christmas to tell our families, that was pretty fun! So, now you know and I can stop feeling guilty that I have not told so many of you yet! Now I'm going to bed!
